On September 20th when the iPhone 5S went on sale I knew my contract had until November to run. But, about a week later I thought I’d check to see what the actual date of my eligibility was and lo’ and behold I was currently eligible. I then dropped a note to Alan Gold at Santa Barbara Auto Stereo and Wireless to see what he could do to get me a 32GB Silver/White model and he said he could get it by October 21st. That seemed to match everyplace else that I saw the phone so I told him to order it.
Then, on October 9th he called and said the phone was in so I got in the Red Sled and hustled down to his shop at the corner of San Roque and State to get my new jewel. Kevin had the paper work all ready and I just signed the credit card slip and the phone was activated.
The cool part was that it seems that late model iPhones particularly the 4S and 5 are hot items and can be sold for very close if not exactly what you bought them for in my case 2 years ago. I checked around to see what the 4S was going for on the Internet and Gazelle (www.gazelle.com) was paying $150 while Apple was paying up to $175 giving you a gift card for your phone. But, Verizon was paying up to $200 for my 4S. The Verizon offer however was also a gift card at which time Alan said I can sell that for you on Craig’s List and I might even get you more than the $200 Verizon is offering.
In the blink of an eye a buyer appeared and originally offered $210 but when he arrived he ended getting the phone for $200. The difference between dealing directly with Verizon was that Alan was able to credit the $200 right back to my Visa Card.
So, if you’re yearning for a new Verizon iPhone 5S and you’ve got an old 4S or 5 then hustle on down to Santa Barbara Auto Stereo and Wireless and put the deal together.
